Welcome to the Eurovision diary 2019

May 03

Hejsan Hejsan and welcome back after our short little Memorial Day. The day off was a great opportunity for many of our international crew members to go and visit Jerusalem. I'm glad that so many went!

May03 8

Say HELLO to Pierre and Carl-Philip! These fine gentlemen are our backstage managers and they make sure that the artists are delivered to all the different points they need to be at in this production, including stage, hair and make-up, press conferences etc.

May03 13

But yesterday we were busy with celebrating Carl-Philip since it was his 28th birthday! We got a table at Hilton Beach and decided to try do consume all Rose Wine in Israel. We were quite successful!

May03 12

And we had lots of food food food food too!

May03 1

Speaking of! Let's take a quick peak at our catering. Providing catering for a beast like Eurovision is really a challenge for any caterer. First of all, you have to serve around 50 000 meals which is A LOT!

May03 2

But you also have to create a menu with enough variation for it not to get boring, and that is where most companies fail.Eurovision has a long tradition of horrible caterings and Norway 2010 was for long the best Eurovision catering I ever had. Most caterers only have to please a client for 3-7 days, if that. We are here for SEVEN WEEKS!!!!!!!!!! And our catering has been doing REALLY well so far, and I truly believe that they will beat the Norwegians. It's a true pleasure going up to the roof top every day and be served tasty meals with great variation. THANK YOU!!!!

May03 4

The catering is on the roof top of pavilion 2. Yes, we have an outdoor seating area, because the weather allows it. Funny enough, you will find all the Nationals in the shade.

May03 9

While most of the Internationals are sitting out in the sun!

May03 3

Say HELLO to our EVS operator Toomas Vann and our senior shader Luke Chantrall. Last show they did together was the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the Sochi Olympics, so these guys are used to the big league!

May03 5

Say HELLO to wonderful Roni Oren! Roni is doing the VT production for show when she's not hanging out at the catering water hole that serves orange and lemon juice, and water.

May03 7

Say HELLO to our Layout Manager Tobias Brodd. Tobias is homeless when he's not busy with planning the flow and logistics for events like this. True story!

May03 6

Say HELLO to Daniela Herzig from Highlight. She spends every day being busy with not giving me a hood, besides when she comes to get head massage in my office! My office provides all kind of services besides Production Management!

May 01

Tjolahopp! Here is todays update from the world of wonders in umpa umpa land where the dreams can come through, if you dare!

May01 1

Say HELLO to Robert Roos! Robban just arrived, and he will be working as the production manager for the Netflix crew that is coming here to film material for an upcoming movie about confused culture workers in drag. True story!

May01 2

The Head of Production was this excited over seeing Robert again! Or......... it might be that someone just asked  yet another question about crew shuttle schedule. Not sure, can't remember. Evil people forced me to drink Arak yesterday.............

May01 3

Now here is a gang of legendary heroes! This group of fine gentlemen was the Executive team of Eurovision Song Contest 1999. It was a great honor to host a tour for them today, together with Tali, my sister in crime. I'm planning a little suprise for these gents! A meet and greet with Charlotte Perrelli, ex Nilsson whom won the contest back in 1999. I happen to know that Charlotte is coming here as a commentator for Bräkne Hoby, I think.

May01 4

99% of the time, this blogg is silly, fun and informational. But there are times when we just have to stop in our step and reflect over the history of the place we are at. I would assume that no one has missed the fact that Eurovision takes place in Tel Aviv, Israel this year. The holy land is ancient, and host more important historic events than all other places in the world, while the State of Israel is young. May 14 1948 to be precise. But the earliest known archaeological artifact to mention the world Israel as a collective, dates all the way back to the late 13th century BCE.

75% of the population of Israel is Jewish.

6 000 000 Jews were killed during the second world war. Think about that for a second. That is more people than the entire population of Denmark! Two thirds of the Jews in Europe was murdered under the most horrific circumstances that you can imagine. Starting today at 18:00 we honor the victims of this Genocide. The production are taking the day off tomorrow and will keep work at the arena to an absolute minimum even though it is a regular working day in most parts of the country. At 10:00 tomorrow morning you will hear the sound of sirens, and litterly everyone that is a Jew will stop in their step, regardless of what they are doing, and have two minutes of complete silence to honor these victims. Even people driving on the high way will stop their car and get out of their vehicle to honor these two minutes of silence. The memorial will end tomorrow at 20:00 and we will be back for business on Friday morning.

April 30

Hejsan svejsan and welcome back to the Kingdom of Schlager! Weather is warm and cozy and it looks like perfect weather for spending our day off on Thursday on the beach! Mind you, there will not be an update on May 02, but I'll compensate that with one on Saturday. Ok?

April30 6

It's been very busy over the weekend. We finally go access to the full area on Saturday, so everything you see on this image belongs to us now, besides Shira, whom has been belonging to us for quite some time now!

April30 5

And all this is also ours, including the mud pool that the exhibition that was here left behind. Thank you! Retards.................

April30 3

Say Welcome to the Welcome desk! This is the first stop when you come into our Press Center.

April30 4

The Press Center will have 500 working spaces once it's ready.

April30 1

And here is our Press Conference stage in the building next to the Press Center.

April30 2

We will be able to host up to 500 journalists for a press conference in here. It's usually only the press conference with the winner that attracts that many journalists though.

April30 9

Say HELLO to Reut Dar! Reut is the Site Manager for Pavilion 1. Remember I told you that we've split the production into two halls? Let's check out what they have been up to in here over the weekend!

April30 7

Irgunit has started to build a big ass Green Room platform. This platform will host 26 countries in its full configuration.

April30 8

We're also building a Grand Stand in here since we will have live audience in the Green Room for the Grand Final.

April30 13

On the other side of the hall, we've been very busy with building the dressing rooms where the artists will hang out prior to their performance.

April30 12

You will also find the Eurovision Wall of Fame in this area.

April30 10

But of course the question we all are seeking the answer to is this one. If you put your bet on Hawaii, I'm afraid you'll looooooooose!

April30 11

The print outside the hair and make up! Quite funny :-)

April30 14

Here is the tunnel that connects Pavillion 1 with Pavilion 2. The rooms you see on the right-hand side is where the IEM rehearsal will move within soon. You will find both dressing rooms for male and female and the actual IEM rehearsal studio here.

Once you've passed here you only have the mic check station before you are ready to enter our stage and perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. Oh yes, you also need to make sure that you qualify to represent your country before you can show up here! Details..........

April29 3

This MIGHT be the EBU Executive supervisor Jon Ola Sand! But it can be a blury look alike! If I told you, I would have to kill you!

April29 4

And speaking of death! Friday was the day when we finally put some dead meat in the smoker and took it for a test run. As you can see, the Litecom crew has been waiting for this day for quite some time!

April29 5

Check this out! Pork Belly that has been in the smoker for ten hours! OMG!!!!!!! Pellet smokers is DA SHIT!
