April 21 Vlog

Whoop whoop! With this post we're officially back on track, posting what happened yesterday. We'll try to keep up!

We're in rehearsals now so we can't show pics or videos of those so be prepared for other interesting information and of course more vlogs.

And here's one for today! But instead of me interviewing someone, Christer interviews me! We're both famous you know......

Oh, and yes I realize the sound is mono......we have the best technology in the world on this show but the local electronic store mic doesn't seem to like my Handycam......sorry!

April 20

Hello! Today we're going to meet Team Tobbe! These are the guys working with Tobbe Berg, whom you may remember from many diaries past. He's been the man behind the machine of all the moving parts on stage - set pieces, props, flaming pianos, you name it! He was even a dancing matryoshka dancer in Moscow!

Now, we have 42 songs, 3 Openings and 3 Interval Acts on a very tight timeline - most involving set pieces and props. From the time one country is finished performing to the next country starting is only 35 seconds! That's 35 seconds to get all the performers and props off the stage and the next set on, plus a quick sweep of the floor and setting up microphones, etc. Tobbe and his team have every changeover perfectly choreographed and they rehearse their changeovers just as perfectly as the performers rehearse their songs. It's fascinating to watch!

OM: What's your biggest pet peeve?

TM: You are. Asking me stupid questions when I have work to do...... Go bother someone else!

OM: Ok!!

So we'll play a game with the rest of the crew! We're still missing Bebban and Henka but I'll selfie/photobomb them when they get here!

Title: Stage Change Over Crew

OM: Now I'm going to say the answer and you have to ask the question! Isn't that fun?

HI: Is that a question?

OM: No, here we go.  A naked mole rat.

HI: What the hell is that?  OM: No no, you're question is supposed to be like, "What's the world's weirdest pet?"  HI: Yeah, I understand the game, I just never heard of a naked mole rat!

OM: OK, I'll try another one. A pianist.

HI: I don't want to play this game......

April 18 Vlog

So I have another Vlog for you today!

First, allow me to explain........

Now that rehearsals will start, we have monitors placed in the production office so Production, Contest and Show can work and still keep an eye on rehearsals.

Last night, after most of the crew had left, I was calling for my dear assistant Vika to no reply. I look up at the monitor in front of me and happened to catch her test-driving our beautiful new stage......

Here she is: Vika LIVE!

Do I need to say anything else??

April 17

Hello from the land of banosh! Now to continue catching up on the ongoings here!

Our office is getting more and more crowded. Besides Production, we also have Show and Contest in here, so it’s quite lively. But I still play music very loud in my corner, waving my hooves in the air just like I don’t care!

Tereza Lavrukh and Emmanuel Ita from Riedel handing out lots of radios today. Besides radios, Riedel also does our intercom, our IT and our accreditations, so they are quite busy. We’ll get back to them with a detailed report soon.

All cameras but the Fan Zone rail are in place now, and we will do white balance of them all starting at 13:00 tomorrow so we are ready for technical tests the following day.

Our camera crew arrived yesterday! Here is Oliver Shlüsser fresh from the dentist! Welcome!

And one by one the cameras show up at the multi viewer at Jerry’s work station at FOH. I got one too, but still no time for me to hang at FOH.

Team Appelt continues to plow through all the songs at night time. It’s big, bold and beautiful and will look amazing once it’s all done! Long nights though.

One of these days Joan will stop having coffee at FOH and report on all the guys. Here’s the Gravity/Green Hippo corner up there. We’re using a total 14 Green Hippo Boreal on this show.

Title: Associate Head of Production

OM: Are you afraid of spiders?

TÅ: No. Which is good cause there's one on your arm.  OM: AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

OM: If you had the gift of time travel, where’s the first place you would go?

TÅ: 2 days ago.  OM: Ha ha that's right you bastard -- you got to go home for Easter!

OM: Why do you like me?

TÅ: Do I have to answer that?

Name: Olena Manko

Title: HR Administrator

OM: Do you play any musical instruments?

OM:   .........wait....there's 2 "OM's"....we'll go with "Olena" for interview purposes. Your initials rock by the way.

Olena: Yes, I studied piano for seven years. I can play the song "Da da-da da-da..." (wiggles fingers in the air)   OM: Oh, that's a good one!

OM: What's your favorite place you've visited?

Olena: Braga, Portugal. I was doing volunteer service in Portugal for 9 months and visited Braga.

OM: Do you have my SIM card yet?

Olena: Tomorrow......maybe.

Why is it that to stop Windows 95, you have to click on "Start"?
